small things

What a beautiful Sunday. The sky is blue. The sun is shining. And the day has moved at a pleasantly lazy pace. I just finished a little cream of wheat break on my front porch. I needed a little something to eat before going to a birthday bbq this evening.

Its nice to be reminded that sometimes the simplest of things do the most for us. I love the luxury of sitting on my porch and enjoying something to eat. It is one thing that I miss dearly when winter rolls around.
Yesterday I went for a haircut. Nothing major. Just a good trim and the addition of a few layers around the face. Some long sweeping bangs. No big deal. But as simple as it was, it made a huge impact on how I felt. As does a little sun on my skin. I suddenly feel fresher and more vibrant.
If you really think about it, the things that usually make the biggest impact on our state of mind are the small things. What small thing has changed the way you feel lately?

I recently bought a few small plants and they have added life and color to my living room, the added greenery just made me feel more alive.

I totally agree, it's the small things that matter the most and add warmth to our lives.

Hair cuts (unless they're really bad ones) never fail to make me feel good. Just a trim makes so much difference.

Even though I've already complained about the cold weather, I really enjoyed it yesterday. Hearing the rain while I was in bed is the best way to end the day, and wake up in the middle of the night to. Such simple things.

That's so true! For me, it's when my skin glows, (usually when I consume the amount of water I should!) when I've had success at something (especially small things) and when I buy a new piece of clothing...but the thing that makes me feel the best, is witnessing a beautiful moment. It could an old couple, still holding hands, or a little baby, smiling and so care-free...

Hope you enjoy your new cut -- it sounds lovely.

Love your thoughtful posts :)

We put a lightweight matelasse coverlet on the bed instead of our down comforter, so that was pretty awesome and springy. And switched out our candles to nectarine mint. Yup, it's the small things...
